Virtuoso Jazz Evening with Marian Petrescu and Stephan Zimmermann
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, the Bistrot Paris in Weiden will transform into an atmospheric jazz club. The Marian Petrescu Trio meets the renowned trumpeter Stephan Zimmermann and presents an evening of concerts between powerful swing, contemporary compositions, and great jazz tradition.
When the Spirit of Oscar Peterson Meets a Personal Style
Marian Petrescu captivates with astonishing technique, high musicality, and infectious musical joy. His playing recalls the Canadian pianist Oscar Peterson, yet remains unmistakably unique. His mentor Martial Solal described him as the Horowitz of jazz piano - a classification that aptly describes Petrescu's virtuosic stage presence.
Improvisations, Ballads, and Classics
The program combines brilliant improvisations with touching ballads and selected favorites from the Great American Songbook. Contemporary compositions by Marian Petrescu meet sophisticated arrangements and the elegant timbre of Stephan Zimmermann on trumpet and flugelhorn.
High-Profile Line-Up at Bistrot Paris
Alongside Marian Petrescu on piano and Stephan Zimmermann on trumpet and flugelhorn, Joel Locher on double bass and Felix Schrack on drums are part of the formation. Together, the quartet creates a lively audience atmosphere: sometimes bouncy and swinging, sometimes intimate and atmospheric. The Bistrot Paris provides the suitable setting with immediate proximity to the stage and club atmosphere.
