Miles & Trane Centenniel: Jazz legends reimagined
On Saturday, November 7, 2026, the Jazz Zirkel Weiden e.V. dedicates a special concert evening to two iconic figures in jazz history: Miles Davis and John Coltrane. At the Bistrot Paris in Weiden, an international All-Star quintet will showcase the influential music of the 1950s and 1960s on stage.
World-Class Lineup at Bistrot Paris
The frontline features New York trumpeter Joe Magnarelli and Canadian saxophonist Kirk MacDonald. Magnarelli is among the leading jazz trumpeters of his generation. MacDonald can be heard on more than 50 recordings and has worked with notable artists including Lionel Hampton, Jack DeJohnette, and James Moody.
The rhythm section consists of Cologne pianist Martin Sasse, Canadian bass legend Neil Swanson, and the celebrated bebop drummer Bernd Reiter, who has been honored multiple times in Weiden. Reiter has specially assembled the quintet for this special concert, combining international experience with an energetic stage presence.
From Cool Jazz to Hard Bop
The program traverses the sound world of cool jazz, bebop, and hard bop. Precise brass arrangements, buoyant rhythms, expressive solos, and the open dramaturgy of jazz promise an intense event experience. The music from the 1950s and 1960s emerges not as a museum piece, but as a living, timeless language.
Jazz Atmosphere in the Heart of Weiden
Bistrot Paris provides the perfect setting for this concert evening. Between immediate audience closeness and concentrated stage energy, a unique event atmosphere arises for jazz enthusiasts, curious newcomers, and all who appreciate live music.
The core of the event's planning is a high-quality concert experience with free seating. Doors open at 7:00 PM, and the concert starts at 8:00 PM. Tickets are regularly available for 30 Euros; discounts apply for students and members with identification.
Conclusion: A Must-Attend Event for Jazz Fans
This special concert connects the music of two jazz icons with a high-caliber international lineup. Attendees can expect an evening full of swinging grooves, expressive improvisations, and defining tones.
