About Life: When Artificial Intelligence Challenges Our Thinking

What remains for humans when artificial intelligence takes over more and more cognitive tasks? In the reading and discussion About Life at the Rupprecht bookstore in Weiden, Professor Dr. Miriam Meckel and Dr. Léa Steinacker tackle the big questions of a world marked by superintelligence.

An Evening about Humanity, Knowledge, and Future

Since the Enlightenment, humanity has defined itself largely through its capacity to think, to recognize, and to make decisions. This self-understanding is the focal point of the evening. Meckel and Steinacker have authored a manifesto for humanity in times of superintelligence, posing the question of why life is more than information and intelligence is more than mere data processing.

Informed Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence

Professor Dr. Miriam Meckel is a professor of communication management at the University of St. Gallen. Dr. Léa Steinacker is a social scientist who earned her doctorate on the social implications of artificial intelligence. Together, they combine scientific expertise with social context, creating an accessible discussion evening on digitalization, responsibility, and the future of humanity.

Literature Meets Social Discourse

The Rupprecht bookstore provides the perfect setting for this unique event experience. In a personal atmosphere, reading, non-fiction, and audience dialogue converge. The event is aimed at all those interested in artificial intelligence, media, society, the consequences of technology, and the question of a humane approach to technological development.
