Orange Day in Weiden: An Evening About Women's Pain Experiences

The Regional Library Weiden will open the Orange Day Action Weeks on November 12, 2026, with a compelling reading and book discussion. Eva Biringer will present her award-winning non-fiction book Unhurt – Women and Pain and focus on a subject that has long received insufficient attention in society, culture, and medicine.

When Pain is Valued Differently

Eva Biringer examines how female pain is perceived, categorized, and often overlooked. The focus is on physical pain experiences, chronic illnesses, and domestic and sexual violence. The journalist questions whether there is a specifically female pain, what causes lie behind it, and how society can deal with these experiences more justly.

Reading, Book Discussion, and Musical Atmosphere

The event combines literary insights with a subsequent book discussion. The musical accompaniment will be provided by Sonja Rummler on jazz saxophone and Claudia Burghofer on piano. A champagne reception with canapés creates a fitting setting for meetings and exchanges before and after the official program.

An Evening in the Spirit of Orange Day

The kick-off event takes place to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Women’s Shelter Weiden and is presented by the Women’s Shelter Weiden. Thus, the evening connects event planning, social information, and cultural experiences. The atmosphere is vibrant from the focused environment of the Franz-Joachim-Behnisch Hall and the shared engagement with an important topic.

Organizational Note

Entry begins at 5:30 PM, the reading starts at 6:00 PM and is expected to end around 7:30 PM. Registration at gleichstellungsstelle@weiden.de is recommended. Admission is free.

Conclusion: Literature that Changes Perspectives

Visitors can expect an informative and touching evening with readings, book discussions, music, and space for societal exchange. Those who want to better understand female pain experiences and consciously experience the Orange Day in Weiden will find an appropriate place for encounters and reflection in the Regional Library.
